Description:

Meridian and Lauderdale county is very fortunate to have a place like the Bonita Lakes Park. This public area encompasses 3,300 acres inside the city limits and includes the Long Creek Reservoir and the Lakeview public golf course. Lakeview is a wonderful facility that continues to improve every year. With great rates of $7 for 9 holes and $12 for 18 holes during the week and only $14 on the weekend, this course provides a great option to the significantly more expensive private courses around the area. The best known part of Bonita Lakes is the area just off of Hwy 19 at the entrance to Bonita Lakes Mall. There, visitors will find 2 lakes surrounded by walking and jogging tracks, as well as, primitive riding trails for horses and mountain bikes around the larger upper lake. There are numerous picnic areas and even covered pavilions available for rent. There is a newly installed large playground for children. During the summer, swimming and paddle boats are available in the smaller lake. Fishing is allowed year round in both lakes, as well as, the Long Creek Reservoir over by the golf course. Visitors will also find benches and swings scattered all around the park that provide a great place to sit in the Mississippi breeze and enjoy the view of the park. The Meridian Police department maintains a station at the park with mounted officers on horseback that patrol the park. The park is very "horse-friendly" with places to park trailers and even wash racks for cleaning your horse after a ride.

The park is open from 7AM - 10PM year round and completely free to visitors (except for the golf course).
